A broad, inclusive definition is: spirituality is that which gives meaning to one’s life and draws one to transcend oneself. It has to do with deep feelings and beliefs that bring a sense of peace, purpose, and connectedness to others
Spirituality is a broader concept than religion, although that can be one expression of spirituality. Other expressions include prayer, meditation, interactions with others or nature, and connection to a metaphysical reality greater than oneself.
It is the opportunity to expand your mind and to bring yourself to a space of Love.
Spiritualism
In Spiritualism, every being is seen as an individual with the opportunity to expand their own awareness and understanding surrounding their path in life.
Spiritualism has Seven Principles given as inspired Guidelines
The Seven Principles
1. The Fatherhood of God
2. The Brotherhood of Man
3. The communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels
4. The continuous existence of the Human Soul
5. Personal responsibility
6. Compensation and Retribution for all good and evil deeds done on earth.
7. Eternal progress open to Every Soul
We accept that there is a greater intelligence, Life Force, an all knowing, ever present energy, (aka) God, Divine Spirit that poured forth all life, leaving within each of us a spark of itself. A source of love and good, which is constantly available to each and every one of us.
Spiritualists
Spiritualists are often people who at some time were part of an orthodox religion who have developed a need to explore further after discovering that the knowledge presented left many incomplete answers to questions.
These people are of all ages, race and creed who wish to have the freedom to explore their own understanding, which will assist them to have a better concept of life and its origin, without feeling restricted by the limitations of the perceptions of others.
People are encouraged to be responsible for their own actions and to take control of their own life; thus given the chance to find their own truth and beliefs as they apply it to themselves.
Our beliefs are that we all follow our own path at our own pace, discovering the God within and bringing us a greater knowledge of the Divine Source, the continuation of Life, and that death is just a transition to another level of consciousness.
Life is eternal, we are Spirit having a physical experience.
When did it begin?
Aspects of the Spiritualist Philosophy date from the beginning of time. Spirituality is a `Way of Life’ dating back to the beginning of creation, where mankind extended a helping hand, an open heart and friendship to others in need. These aspects of love have always existed as they do to-day. Many Churches, Centres and Groups have been formed.
Meditation is an important aspect used in the development and awareness of these areas and is a natural progression toward spiritual growth.
Life presents us with many opportunities, by which to expand our understanding, and the underlying energies behind the interactions we experience in Day to Day Life.
